WORKING WOMAN

For the past year and a half, I have been working in a friend's office about 2-4 hours a week.  But last week, I started working 16 hours a week!!!  Two full days!!  I have been BUSHED when I get home....totally NOT use to making my brain function for that amount of time :-)  I'm loving the work, but it is going to take some getting use to.  But I am hoping that it will force me to be more organized....not only around the house, but in stamping and blogging.  

This week was especially busy since Steve had his brothers from out of state visiting from Sunday and leaving this morning at 4am!!!  We had a nice visit.

I'm hoping that now things will begin to get into a routine.
I'm ready for some boredom ;-)

ONE WAY TO TEST FOR LEAKS

We live on some acreage that has a seasonal pond each year....we usually have water in it from the first rain until it dries up around June or so.  During wet winters it gets pretty big.  When the kids were small Steve got his hands on this fishing boat that he let the kids play with in the pond.  They had a BLAST in winter and spring playing everything from pirates to pretending to waterski.  Well, now that they are older, the boat has just been sitting out by the pond....so Steve decided to clean it up and sell it.  So, after a bit of TLC he needed to make sure it didn't have any leaks...so we dropped it into our pool.  Kids couldn't resist one last ride.  

As an update.....Steve sold it on Craigslist and the buyer is picking it up on Sunday.

Also, at the beginning of each school year I always take a picture of Andy and Madison....here is this year's picture of them.  They will be sophomores in high school!!

Boy, they sure do grow up fast!!!

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

The first day of school is always bittersweet for me.   

I'm sad because it has been fun (for the most part) having the kids home and hanging out.  

On the other hand, I'm looking forward to the structure that the school year gives to our lives.  

The first day of school also makes me realize just how FAST the summer flies by and how quickly the fall and holidays are approaching.

FAMILY FUN FUND

The other day, Madison had an idea for our family.  She thought that we should start a "Family Fun Fund". 
So, she decorated this jar while I was out running errands.....I LOVE it when she uses my stampin' goods!!!

 

After a family "meeting" at dinner yesterday....we rummaged through the house and found all our loose change and put it in the jar.  

So, the next time we have a hankerin' for some fun, we'll dip into our jar for some "fun funds"! GREAT idea!!!

 Here's a cute picture of her.......she was making us some dinner this evening and while cutting a portabella mushroom said, "Hey! it looks like a mustache!"  

Sure enough....it does!!

What a kook!!  

By the way....dinner was great!  

She fixed us whole wheat fettuccine with alfredo sauce and sauteed veggies.  

It was YUMMY!!!

QUICK & EASY CHRISTMAS CARD

Today's card is quick and easy Christmas card.  Saturday I was at a meeting all day for our church and wanted to just relax afterwards, so I made this card.  There is nothing like stamping therapy!  

 I think, too, that it has been so hot here lately, that thinking of Christmas and winter just makes me psychologically cooler.

TRIPLE TIME STAMPING

Today's card is my try at Triple Time Stamping....I saw this originally on Stampin' Connection from Dawn Olchefsek (click HERE to visit her blog).  

I have been wanting to make try it for awhile....so this evening I made a quick card.

 

After finishing it up, I think it needs something.  I used Early Espresso, Whisper White card stock and Early Espresso and Crumb Cake ink....It might look better with some splash of bright color.  

I guess I will just have to make another one :-)

FRIDAY NIGHT PIZZA

Friday night is almost always PIZZA NIGHT at our house.  We have been having pizza on Friday evenings for a few years now.

Here is our pizza for this evening.... ....it has spicy Italian sausage (just a bit so we can cut down on the fat), Monterey Jack cheese, sauted mushrooms, red bell pepper, red onion and chopped basil from our garden.

 I took a picture of it before I cooked it so that you could see the vibrant colors of the peppers, onions and basil....such a pretty thing ;-)

Here's what we devoured....

I'm convinced that good pizzas are made because of good pizza pans....I invested in a really good pizza pan years ago and I don't think I've ever had a bad pizza on it.....also cranking up your oven to about 450 or 475 degrees also makes it yummy!!
