BECAUSE I CARE

It's been a BUSY couple of weeks since my last post.

Quick update on the kids' swim finals.....Madison swam in 1 relay and Andy swam an individual breast stroke and 2 relays....not sure how they stacked up against their competitors, but I'm proud of them for just qualifying!!

Here is one of the cards that we made at my July Stamp club.  We used the Reason to Smile stamp set.  Colors used are Perfect Plum, Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White.  The sentiment is from one of my favorite retired hostess set Because I Care.
Inspiration for this card came from another demonstrator's card that I saw on the demonstrator only website Stampin' Connection.....which I must say....having access to this website is reason enough to become a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.

Tomorrow I will share with you an exciting offer for those wanting to join the Stampin' Up! family.

Until next time, find some time for stamping!!

GOING TO FINALS FOR SWIM

Just a quick update.....

Both Andy and Madison qualified at Time Trials to swim in the Finals for our area.  The top 24 swimmers in each event, from 3 separate Time Trials, are seated to swim in the Finals.
I'm very excited that they qualified.....I was hoping they would be able to go, but not sure if they would make it.....but they did!  So on Saturday we are off to another full day poolside.

I'm sure I won't have any time over the weekend for blogging, but I have Stamp Club on Monday so I will post the projects that we're doing sometime next week.

Until next time, find some time for stamping!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDY!!

HAPPY 16th BIRTHDAY ANDY!!

I can hardly believe my "baby boy" is 16!!!!
I'm so proud of him....he is growing into such a handsome young man!!
He looks so serious in this picture....not a usual thing for him.
He is at that age (or maybe it's just him) where he HATES to get his picture taken......every time I pick up the camera and try to take his picture he runs, ducks, or turns his head.  I'm learning to take pictures quickly and with a bit of stealth.  I managed to get this one of him a couple of weeks ago.....I'm glad I caught him smiling.....he has braces so good luck seeing a smile that shows his teeth.
I LOVE you Andy....you're the BEST!!

Until next time, find some time for stamping!

WELCOME BABY

A friend of mine from church had a baby boy about a week ago and so I made her this simple little baby card.
The image is from the now retired Punch Bunch set....which I still love for making quick cards such as this.

Thanks for visiting.

FATHER'S DAY CARD

Today's card is one that we made back in June at Stamp Club.....both cards are pretty much identical except for the DSP in the tie and the "buttons" on the shirt, and oh yeah, the "tie clasp".

Now my dad never wore a tie to work and Steve doesn't wear a tie either....except when he wears his dress uniform, but the colors of that uniforms aren't every nice so I didn't want to try and match them....but I couldn't resist this shirt and tie card that I saw numerous other stampers making.

This card is SUPER easy to make.  Here's the first one that I made....
Here's the second one I made....I like it better because it has more color...
And here is the inside of both cards....
I'm gradually getting caught up on the projects that I made during my 2 month blogging hiatus.....and my computer seems to be cooperating lately so hopefully I will be able to be more consistent.

Thanks for hanging in there and for visiting!!

Until next time, find some time for stamping!!

CORNER BOOKMARK GIFTS

Remember my corner bookmark phase?  Well, in May our church had a women's conference and during the conference I helped out with registration.   As a thank you gift for the gals helping me with registration, I made them each a monogrammed corner bookmark.

Here's a close up of what they looked like....
Here's a picture of the lot......
I love stamping....and especially love it when I get to share it!

TIME TRIALS

Yesterday we spent the ENTIRE day "camping out" at a time trials swim meet.   They each qualified to swim 3 individual events and 2 relays.

I'm very proud of the kids for qualifying to be at time trials.....we'll find out on Monday whether they made it to finals.  The competition was really TOUGH so if they did qualify for finals it will be by the hair of their chinny-chin-chins!  Although, I'm not too concerned about their times as long they enjoy themselves and swim the best they can swim.

It looked like a refuge camp with all the pop-up tents.  There were about 8 different clubs at this meet.....each one having a specific spot on the grass.

The kids spent time in between their events playing cards....Madison is the girl on the right with the green cap on and Andy is below her in the white t-shirt.

Here is a pretty cool picture of Andy.  He was suppose to swim breaststroke against 2 other boys, but they were no shows, so he had to swim all by himself.....which is hard because you can't gauge whether you're going fast or slow.  Although he swam just a couple of tenths slower than his personal best.
Here is a picture of Madison diving in to swim the anchor on a 200 meter medley relay.  When I showed her this picture she commented on the official (man in the white shirt) being right there watching her very closely.
I'm so proud of both of them.....they swam their little hearts out!

Thanks for visiting!!!

CARD FROM LEFTOVERS

OK, here's the card that I made using the leftover supplies from my June Stamp Club.

I absolutely ADORE the Distressed Dots background stamp!!!  It's the BOMB in my book!

In fact, almost everything about this card is a result of a "mistake".....the thinner white strip was because my card stock kept wrinkling in the Big Shot when I tried to emboss the oval and the small accent flowers were added to cover a smudge.... don't you just love the little added touch of the punched flowers.....Don't they add just the perfect accent?
So, I guess it is true.....there are NO MISTAKES when stamping!

STAMP CLUB CARD

Today's card is one that we made at my June Stamp Club.   It's very bright and summery....I love it.
Wild Wasabi is quickly becoming one of my favorite colors....it kind of had to grow on me.

Next time I will show you a card that I made from the leftovers of this card.....it's changed up just a bit, but I actually think I like it better.  So, stayed tuned and then let me know what you think.

Until next time, find some time for stamping!

UNDER $20 EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER

Ok well, maybe it's not extreme......but it did make a big different and it did cost less than $20....(although what is extreme is the fact that this is my second post of the day).

The other day, one of my sweetest friends, Michelle, came over with her fantastical surger sewing machine and  whipped up some new patio furniture cushion covers for me.  I had bought the fabric on a MAJOR clearance about a year ago.....forgot all about it, found it, and knew I needed to FINALLY cover our patio chairs.

Here is a BEFORE picture of our 10 year old set.....look how totally drab it looks?!!
Here is the AFTER shot.....doesn't it look FANTASTIC!!!
I just LOVE how it brightens up the entire patio....no more drab here!   They are made sort of like big pillowcases....opening at the bottom so that I can take them off and wash them.  They even make the old black frames look good again.
Now to a non-sewer.....the way she squared off the corners convinced me that Michelle was a genius!  They fit perfectly!!
I can't wait for it cool down so that we can start eating dinner out there again.   Today is it suppose to reach about 108 degrees!!!  It's almost too hot to even go outside and swim.....but it sure warms up the water nicely for an evening swim.

THANKS for visiting!!!

Until next time, find some time for stamping!

ANOTHER GRADUATION CARD

Today I'm sharing with you a couple of more graduation cards made for friends.....These cards are the same except for the school colors.
Here is the inside....I made the money holder by putting dimensionals under the punched label.  Super easy and it got the job done!
Here is the other card....
That's it for me today.  Have a great week, thanks for visiting, and I'll be back soon.

Until next time, find some time for stamping!

GRADUATION CARD

Well, my computer is being nice today.....it seems we are in a love/hate relationship these days.

I couldn't decide how far back to go since my blogging has been so hit and miss....but since graduations weren't all that long ago, I thought I would start there.

I made this card for the son of some good friends.  His school colors are navy and orange and it just so happened that I had some retired DSP with those exact colors.
Thanks for visiting.....I'll try and not be such a lame blogger :-)

Until next time, find some time for stamping!!
